This is a detailed, informative and scholarly work, demonstrating clearly and unambiguously that traditional astrological doctrine is applicable to all astrology: there is no division between different ‘branches’. Whether a Nativity or Question is under consideration, the process of evaluation is the same, what Coley calls the “short comprehensive and approved rules of Art”. Ptolemy, Masha-allah, Abu Ma’shar, Abu ‘Ali Al-Khayyat, Al Biruni, Bonatti, Dariot, Morin and Lilly are just some of the authors referred to. Where there are doubts arising through a poor translation, unsympathetic translator or other factors, clarification is provided. The focus of this book is practical rather than philosophical. Rather than seeking to change or modify the doctrine handed down by our ancestors, or denying that astrology is about prediction, an attempt is made to identify the most worthwhile tools and techniques. Barbara Dunn
Barbara graduated from the London School of Economics, continued as a postgraduate student and thereafter pursued her interest in astrology. Having completed her horary studies with Olivia Barclay, Barbara was appointed Head Tutor, teaching and mentoring students in the UK and world-wide. Olivia Barclay bequeathed the QHP to Barbara in 2001. Barbara is a Fellow of the Association of Professional Astrologers International (FAPAI), Principal of the QHP (Qualifying Horary Practitioner) and a delegate on the Advisory Panel for Astrological Education (APAE). Barbara is also a well known media astrologer, writing for a large number of national and international publications over the past two decades.

“Pareceria, à primeira vista, que aqueles que criticam a inutilidade do prognóstico não têm nenhuma consideração pelos assuntos mais importantes, mas apenas por este - que o conhecimento adiantado dos acontecimentos que vão acontecer de qualquer modo é supérfluo; fazem-no também sem qualquer reserva e sem a devida discriminação.
